Amit Shah takes holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Maha Kumbh | Watch

Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj on Monday as part of the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025. Shah was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with prominent spiritual figures including Baba Ramdev and several other seers. The Home Minister, dressed in orange cloth, arrived in Prayagraj around noon and was received by Adityanath at the airport. Shah proceeded to the Sangam, where he performed the ritual bath at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the extinct Saraswati river.

Before taking the dip, Shah engaged in discussions with top spiritual leaders, including Junapithadheeshwar Mahamandaleshwar Acharya Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj, aboard a floating jetty. The spiritual leaders recited mantras as part of the ceremonial atmosphere. Shah then took the holy dip amidst thousands of pilgrims, after which he offered prayers in accordance with the Kumbh rituals. Following the dip, Shah visited several sacred sites, including the Bade Hanuman Ji Temple and Abhayvat, and met with more saints at Juna Akhara and Guru Sharananand Ji’s Ashram.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, is expected to continue until February 25. The event is held every 12 years, with this year’s festival being particularly significant due to a rare celestial alignment involving the Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Jupiter. The festival is drawing millions of devotees, with over 110 million people already participating in the first 14 days. The total number of visitors is expected to exceed 45 crore by the time the event concludes. Pilgrims believe that taking a dip in the sacred waters during the Kumbh cleanses sins and grants moksha (liberation).

Shah’s visit is part of a series of high-profile political and spiritual engagements at the Kumbh. Several Union Ministers, including Rajnath Singh, have attended the festival and performed the ritual bath. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav also visited Prayagraj and took 11 dips in the holy waters. Additionally, a Dharma Sansad is being organized by spiritual leader Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj to propose the creation of a Sanatan Dharma Board to protect Sanatan traditions and temples. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Prayagraj and take a holy dip at the Sangam on February 5.
